Chinese optics manufacturer Yongnuo has announced its latest autofocus lens, the 85mm F1.8 for Nikon Z-mount cameras. Unfortunately, the lens’ release appears to be limited to China, for now.
The lens is constructed of nine elements in eight groups, including one low-dispersion element and one high-refractive element. It uses a seven-blade aperture diaphragm, has an aperture range of F1.8 through F22, uses a 58mm front filter thread and has a minimum focusing distance of 80cm (31.5”).
Since the lens offers autofocus functionality, the focus ring can also double as a control ring for adjusting ISO, aperture or other shooting parameters on-the-fly. Yongnuo has also included a customizable function (FN) button on the barrel of the lens for assigning additional settings.
Below is a small sample gallery of images taken with the YN85mm F1.8, provided by Yongnuo:
The lens measures has a 58mm diameter, measures 89mm long and weighs ‘around’ 405g (14.3oz), according to Yongnuo. The lens is currently available to purchase for 2,199 yuan (~$350), but it’s currently only available to purchase in China. We have inquired with Yongnuo to confirm if, and if so when, it will be available in other markets.
