Meike has announced the release of a new 8mm F2.8 lens for Micro Four Thirds camera systems.
The lens, which is fully manual and offers a 16mm full-frame equivalent focal length, is constructed of 17 elements in 12 groups, with multi-coated elements. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 25cm (9.8”) and has a 77mm front filter thread. Meike doesn’t specify the exact dimensions of the lens, but does note it weighs 480g (1lb).
Other features include a knurled focus ring, a physical aperture ring and the usual array of distance markings. Due to the bulbous front element, the lens has a built-in petal lens hood, which doubles as the threading point for front-mounted lens filters.
The Meike 8mm F2.8 lens is available to purchase for $399 from Meike’s online shop. It comes with a front and rear lens cap.
