If Tarantino’s career is coming to an end, it’s still a mystery who he’ll cast in his final opus.
Quentin Tarantino and Samuel L. Jackson have been friends for a long time. Tarantino put him in Pulp Fiction, and the casting felt so perfect and natural. Since then, Jackson has starred in six out of Tarantino’s nine films. That’s a helluva collaboration.
But as Tarantino’s career winds down into a self-imposed retirement, everyone is speculating on what his final film will be. Even his longtime collaborator.
Last year, Tarantino appeared on the Pure Cinema Podcast where he confirmed he wanted to retire at 10 films.
“I think it’s kind of easy, for the simple fact that most directors have horrible last movies,” Tarantino said on the podcast. “Usually their worst movies are their last movies. That’s the case for most of the Golden Age directors that ended up making their last movies in the late 60s and the 70s, then that ended up being the case for most of the New Hollywood directors who made their last movies in the late 80s and the 90s.”
