Watching a movie that’s a little above your age range as a kid is the most thrilling feeling.
What was the first R-rated movie you saw? In theaters, it was Black Hawk Down for me. But at home, I saw Terminator while my mom was away for work and my dad decided to host a movie night. We watched both Terminators back-to-back, and the next night, we dove into The Godfather. These were formative experiences that got me hooked on movies and that definitely molded me.
While not strictly coming-of-age movies, they helped me come of age as a human being.
Chris Pratt is a Hollywood star, but he also has kids and has entered full “dad mode.” On a recent Smartless podcast, he revealed he was taking his nine-year-old camping and had lined up a real movie marathon for the kid. It’s a 10-day journey into the wilderness with 10 movies. And I have to say, it sounds like an epically awesome time.
