Back in March, Nikon announced it was initiating a price increase across much of the world, due to ‘sever disruption in global supply chains.’ The price increase went into effect on April 1 and affected most of the major markets, sparing only the United States. That, however, will no longer be the case, as Nikon Inc. has confirmed to DPReview that the price increase make its way stateside starting August 1.
In the original price increase announcement, Nikon said:
‘Following a period of severe disruption in global supply chains, we have experienced continued cost increases to component parts and logistics charges. Whilst we have explored all options to absorb these costs, to maintain production on these lines moving forward, we are regrettably having to increase prices.’
This increase affected nearly all of Nikon’s camera and lens products, with a few notable exceptions: Sports Optics, accessories and ‘certain new products such as the Z9’ were spared in the price increase. In the U.S., however, it appears only lenses will be affect – and only certain lenses at that.
