Swedish company CRDBAG has an interesting storage product called CRDWALL. It’s a modular wall-based storage solution for all your camera gear and accessories.
The CRDBAG wall system relies upon tracks, hooks, loops, and cords. You choose the height you want the system in place and then drill and prepare fasteners for your specific wall. Once the fasteners are in place, you mount two tracks. These tracks hold track rings. Between the two mounts, you thread the cord through the track rings, creating a zig-zag pattern of cords. To keep the cord in place, you install a cord lock. You can expand the CRDWALL with additional tracks. Otherwise, it’s ready to go. If this sounds confusing, you can see it in action below.
The CRDWALL kit comes with two 610mm (24″) wide aluminum tracks, eight track hooks, eight Crdloops, one Crdlock, and a single 30m (98′) cord in black, silver gray, or ultra neon yellow. It’s no surprise that the CRDWALL works alongside the CRDPOUCH. These pouches, which include a hook that attaches to the CRDWALL, come in various sizes and sell in kits ranging from $72 to $321. The CRDWALL is $195.
It’s a fairly expensive storage solution. However, so are shelving units, and the primary advantage that CRDWALL has over something like storage shelves is that CRDWALL takes up a lot less room and arguably provides more direct access to your gear.
If someone has a lot of gear or is a business that maintains a lot of equipment for various photographers and videographers, there’s a case to be made for CRDWALL. If someone doesn’t have a lot of equipment or doesn’t regularly change what they pack in their photography bag, a modular storage solution like this is probably overkill.
