Last month, Sony published then subsequently removed firmware version 1.1 for its a7 IV camera system. The update brought a collection of new and improved capabilities, but hours after its launch, some users noticed their cameras weren’t working after the update, effectively making their entire camera useless in some shooting modes.
Sony has now addressed this problem and is re-releasing firmware version 1.1 for its a7 IV mirrorless camera that addresses the problem. In theory, this update should be free from the bugs that plagued some users who updated to firmware version 1.1. For those who have already updated to firmware version 1.1, this version should overwrite the original version and fix any issues it caused.
Sony notes ‘This update is executed via SD card/CFExpress card, and users will need to ensure the Alpha 7 IV is running or updated to Ver.1.05 first, before updating to v1.1.’
