Check out which unproduced screenplays were favored by the industry this year with The Black List.
There is hope for a screenplay that lands on The Black List, a buzzy list of the year’s favorite unproduced Hollywood screenplays. Making The Black List isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Instead, it’s a sign of a good writer who is slightly ahead of their time. Most of the films that make this list end up being made in the next few years, and often become some of the highest-grossing films during their releases.
Since 2005, the list of scripts that made its way through the industry but never got the green light during that year gets released in December. Over 440 of Black List’s selected films have been produced, grossing over $30 billion in box offices worldwide, and have won 54 Academy Awards from 267 nominations, including four of the last 12 Best Picture and 11 of the last 28 Best Screenplay at the Oscars.
