The American Society of Cinematographers is once again set to honor the work of the many masters of the moving image. On Monday, the ASC unveiled its 37th annual ASC Award nominations, which celebrates the year’s best in feature film, documentary, and television cinematography.
Being recognized within your craft by your peers would be exciting for anyone, but it’s also a good marker of who might take home the Cinematography Academy Award on March 12. Many of the ASC Award winners have gone on to win Best Cinematography at the Academy Awards, with 17 of the ASC award winners taking home the Oscar in the last 36 years.
Greig Fraser, who last year won both the ASC Theatrical Feature Film award and the Oscar for Dune, is nominated again this year for The Batman.
