The biggest night in sports brought us some of the biggest commercials of the year.
Whether you watched the Super Bowl for the game, Rihanna’s triumphant half-time performance, or just to hang out with friends, we can’t deny the power of advertising between plays.
The Super Bowl is one of the most watched television events in the United States, giving advertisers massive and diverse audiences to engage with. With a limited number of spots available and the prestige associated with being featured during the game, many advertisers will spend on average $1 million to $2 million to produce a 30-second ad (according to Ad Age). However, some companies have spent significantly more than that, with production costs for some Super Bowl ads reaching as high as $11 million.
Keep in mind that the cost of production is separate from the cost of purchasing airtime during the game, which can vary from $5 million to $7 million.
